Cell Phones Light Up Operation Room
This interesting piece of news from Argentina has given cell phone usage a whole new meaning. In a city in central Argentina, light from the cell phone screens allowed surgeons to complete an emergency appendix operation during a blackout. Leonardo Molina was on the operating table on July 21, when there was a blackout at the Policlinico Juan D. Peron, the main hospital in Villa Mercedes, a small city in San Luis province. The generator did not work so a family member quickly got some cell phones together from people in the hallway and took them in to provide light for the waiting surgeons. The surgery went on without proper lights for twenty minutes but did through a new light on the unique yet effective uses of mobile phones.
