Mobile Subscription Not Happening

ATT 1.gif The Subscription music business was to pick up with mobile phones entering the lives of more and more people. But this has not exactly happened as U.S. operators are still focused on selling individual tracks over the air on an a la carte basis only. The recently launched AT&T's Napster Mobile-branded full-song, over-the-air download service has Napster which is first and foremost subscription music service but its wireless extension is not. Users can buy individual tracks for $2 or a five-track pack for $7.50. The music industry and subscription music service providers agree that this scenario need to be changes. And to be fair, AT&T and other U.S. wireless operators intend to get there soon. There's just a lot of work to be done before making it a reality. These include technology, pricing and education which need to be properly put in place with the users and providers in mind.
