PSP's Get Talking

playstation.pngGood news for some PSP Play Station Portable owners. They will now be able to make internet voice and video calls soon. British Telecommunications PLC (BT) will be developing a software-based Internet telephony package for the portable device. Users will be able to make voice and video calls wit this package across a Wi-Fi network. Later it will be extended to cover calls and messages to PCs, fixed line phones and cell phones. The PSP already has a built-in Wi-Fi adapter so all you need is a camera to make video calls. The service will be available through BT in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Oceania with support from Sony Computer Europe Entertainment Ltd. However, this may not be available in markets like the Americas, Japan or Asia. That's because the effort is largely led by BT and not Sony.

PSP sales have been low for Sony this time and this has been much lower than anticipated. So with this latest move, Sony might be able to get a wider and better customer base in new markets. And yes , gaming will never be the same again on your PSP.
