Recent reports in a Taiwanese newspapers say that Taiwan based manufacturing company Qaunta Computer shall be manufacturing the second generation Apple iPhones. News does travel fast and because of this, the shares of Quanta rose quickly. Quanta quickly reacted to this and issued a statement in which it refused to comment on the reports. A spokesperson of Quanta also said that although it is important for the company to gain new business, the company will not comment on any customer orders or any such confidential information. Quanta is the world's largest manufacturer of laptop computers, producing roughly one-third of the world's laptops for a long list of business partners including Dell, Hewlett Packard, Compaq and Apple.

sources say that the iPhone allegedly ordered from Quanta will be similar in function to those from Foxconn but with a different outer design to fit different markets. These markets could be Europe and Asia, where the iPhone is not scheduled for release until fourth quarter 2007. So, for all these speculations to end, we would have to wait till the second generation of iPhones are launched.
